Bengal Government hands over 27-km stretch along the India–Bangladesh border to the BSF in the first phase for border fencing!

Kolkata (Bengal) – Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has allocated 27 kms of land to the Border Security Force (BSF) for the construction of fence and installation of barbed wire fencing.

Meetings of BSF, Police and Administration to resume!

In a meeting held in this context, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari stated that this is only the beginning. Even in future, wherever more land is needed for border security, the state government will provide it to the Border Security Force. It is necessary to complete the border fencing work speedily to strengthen border security.

The earlier Trinamool Congress Government, indulging in vote-bank politics and appeasement, did not provide land to the BSF. For many years, no meetings were held between the BSF, State Police and District Administration in the border districts; however, these meetings will now be resumed and conducted regularly hereafter.

On this occasion, the BSF officers stated that out of the 2200 km-long international border shared by Bengal with Bangladesh, a fence has been erected on about 1600 kms of the border, while 600 kms is still unfenced.

CAA implemented in Bengal

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that the ‘Citizen Amendment Act (CAA)’ has been implemented in the State. Regarding infiltration, he stated that now, the infiltrators caught by the State Police would be directly handed over to the BSF. They will be deported to Bangladesh. The Central Government had issued a letter to the State last year in this regard, but no action was taken by the then Government. Those who are not covered under CAA will be treated as infiltrators.
