Jafar arrested for spying for Pakistan for the past 20 years

Had married a Pakistani woman

Kolkata (Bengal) – The National Investigation Agency arrested Jafar Riyaz alias Rizvi for allegedly spying for Pakistan. He is a resident of Kolkata and has married a Pakistani woman. At present, Jafar’s wife and children are living in Pakistan.

Jafar had been travelling between India and Pakistan frequently since 2005. During this period, officers of Pakistan’s intelligence agency allegedly trapped him and provided him with espionage training. They lured Jafar with money and also promised him Pakistani citizenship. In return, Rizvi was passing sensitive and confidential security-related information concerning India to Pakistan.

Editorial Perspective

  • What were the Indian agencies doing while espionage was being carried out in India for so many years?
  • Instead of keeping arrested terrorists in prison and feeding them, efforts should now be made to ensure they receive the death penalty, or a law to that effect should be enacted!
