Communists file a petition in the Kolkata High Court against the ban on cow slaughter in Bengal.

Allegation that the government has attacked religious freedom

Kolkata (Bengal) – The Bengal branch of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation (CPI-ML) has filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court against the Suvendu Government’s order to implement the ‘West Bengal Animal Slaughter Control Act, 1950′. They have demanded that ‘the court should intervene immediately’. According to this law, cow slaughter is prohibited.

The petition claims that the implementing this law is an attack on the religious freedom of Muslims, the livelihood of farmers involved in the cattle trade (who are mostly from the Hindu community), the freedom of citizens to eat food of their choice and the diversity of Bengal’s food culture. The purpose of this law is to prohibit animal sacrifice.

Editorial Perspective

The communists, who say 'religion is an opium pill', have never gone to court for the religious freedom of Hindus; but they have immediately become active for the rights of Muslims. This is precisely why they are disappearing from India and will soon be consigned to history !
