Take legal action against those stopping vehicles transporting animals

  • State Chief Secretary’s directives to Police ahead of Bakri Eid

  • Action against traders transporting animals beyond the prescribed limit termed “illegal”

Mumbai – State Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal has reportedly instructed the Police to take strict legal action against persons stopping vehicles transporting animals ahead of Bakri Eid on 28th May. He also reportedly stated that taking action against animal traders for transporting animals beyond the prescribed limit is illegal. This information was shared by Rais Shaikh after a meeting held at Mantralaya involving MLAs from minority communities, representatives of the State Khatik (Butcher) Federation, administrative officials and Police authorities.

Ahead of Bakri Eid, the slaughter fee at the Deonar slaughterhouse was reportedly reduced from ₹200 to ₹20. The number of designated slaughter locations in Mumbai has also reportedly been increased from 70 to 109. Some housing societies have already been granted permission for slaughter activities, and shopkeepers have also reportedly been allowed to do so.

Editorial Perspective

A large-scale cow slaughter takes place on the day of Bakri Eid. Maharashtra has a law banning cow slaughter. In such a situation, if cow vigilantes stop vehicles filled with animals, then ordering action against them alone is utter nonsense! Hindus should seek justice in court against such absurd and unjust orders.
