Participation in organisation’s activities may attract up to 15 years’ imprisonment

Canberra (Australia) – Australia has permanently banned the ‘Neo-Nazi’ organisation accused of making racist remarks against Indians, including members of the Punjabi community, and intimidating them through public marches. Home Minister Tony Burke made the announcement. Any person participating in the organisation, promoting it or taking part in its activities may now face imprisonment of up to 15 years.
The organisation had reportedly been propagating the Nazi ideology of Adolf Hitler for the past several years and targeting black immigrants residing in the country. In particular, the group’s leader Thomas Sewell had organised several marches against immigrants in major cities such as Melbourne and Sydney. The group was allegedly making continuous attempts to divide Australian society and create a violent atmosphere against minorities.
