Central agencies searching for the mastermind behind selling NEET papers to 1,000 students

  • ‘NEET’ question paper leak case

  • Prof. Shivaraj Motegaonkar's son also taken into custody

Pune: The scope of the ‘NEET’ question paper leak scam is increasing day by day. While verifying the ‘Nanded pattern’ of this entire network, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has come across a clue about the main mastermind named ‘Alok’ from Nagpur. Alok is suspected of selling ‘NEET’ papers to at least 1,000 students, and the ‘CBI’ has started an investigation into him.

Alok gathered students at a secret location in Pune and shared NEET question papers

In the preliminary investigation of the ‘CBI’, it has come to light that Alok had called many students and their parents to Pune before the test date. It is suspected that these students were kept in a secret place and made to memorise the actual question paper by rote. The ‘CBI’ officials are investigating whether Alok is a part of a big racket in Nagpur or the main mastermind.

The name came to light through the interrogation of Ashwini Kadam from Nanded

Alok’s name came to light during a raid conducted in Nanded by Mumbai CBI Inspector General Harshvardhan and Pune CBI investigation chief Vinod Chaudhary.

When the family of a restaurant owner, Kadam, in Nanded, was interrogated, a woman named Ashwini Kadam admitted to having bought NEET paper for her daughter for Rs 5 lakh. Rs 25,000 was paid online as ‘token money’ for this. After that, Alok kept the girl and her family at a secret place in Pune for 15 days and handed over the paper.

Prof. Shivaraj Motegaonkar remanded to custody; son also interrogated by CBI

The director of the renowned ‘RCC’ tutoring class in Latur, Prof. Shivaraj Motegaonkar, who was arrested in this case, has been remanded to CBI custody for 9 days. Since Motegaonkar is suspected of using this paper leak network to get his own son an unauthorised advantage in the exam, the ‘CBI’ has also taken his son into custody in Pune for questioning. As the scope of the NEET paper leak case increases, the directors of many renowned tutoring classes in Nanded are scared. Many tutoring classes have closed their offices, citing the end of the session, while some suspected directors have fled the city.

Parliament summons NTA chief; Strong repercussions across the State

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exams, is now in trouble due to the growing controversy. The Parliamentary Standing Committee has taken serious note of this and summoned NTA Chairman Pradeep Kumar Joshi and senior officials of the Ministry of Education. A high-level meeting will be held in Parliament on May 21st. The NTA chief will have to explain this. On the other hand, this scam is having strong repercussions across the State. Shiv Sena office-bearers protested strongly in front of Motegaonkar’s office by throwing black ink on his nameplate, while in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, AIMIM staged a protest in front of Motegaonkar’s RCC tutoring class in Konkanwadi. On this occasion, black ink was symbolically smeared on the signboards of these tutoring classes.
