We will push India into the pages of history: Khawaja Asif

Pakistani Defence Minister’s hollow threat in response to the warning issued by India’s Army Chief

Islamabad (Pakistan) – Following the warning issued by India’s Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi regarding altering Pakistan’s geography and history, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif issued a hollow threat against India. Asif said that if India again attempted any aggression against Pakistan, India would be pushed into the pages of history. He further threatened that India’s geography itself would be altered. He was speaking during an interview with a news channel. General Dwivedi had earlier said that Pakistan would have to decide whether it wished to remain a part of geography or become part of history. In response, Asif made these remarks.

1. Asif said that by making such remarks, the Indian Army Chief was attempting to regain his lost prestige.

2. Asif further claimed that India no longer enjoys the same relations with neighbours such as Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka, and that India is facing embarrassment on the foreign policy front. (When nobody in the world pays attention to Pakistan and its own diplomacy being an utter failure, making such statements is laughable! – Editor) He further alleged that Israel does not wish to see anyone other than India becoming more powerful in the region.

3. Referring to the recent ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration regarding the Indus Waters Treaty in Pakistan’s favour, Asif stated that the treaty could not be suspended unilaterally and that a strong mechanism exists for resolution of disputes.

Criticism of the Indian Government over RSS leader Hosabale’s statement

Asif also commented on a statement made by Dattatreya Hosabale, Joint General Secretary of the RSS, who had spoken about keeping a window open for dialogue between India and Pakistan. Asif said that in India, the military and civil society function separately and that voices are being raised against the Government in India. (Rather than worrying about India, Asif should attempt to control the deterioration taking place within his own society! – Editor)

Editorial Perspective

Even before Operation Sindoor, Pakistan’s Defence Minister and other ministers were issuing similar hollow threats. They are doing the same even now. Pakistan should remember that India had earlier altered Pakistan’s map by dividing it into two parts, and in the coming years Pakistan itself may split into five parts — Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, West Punjab, Saraikistan and Gilgit-Baltistan — leaving no country called Pakistan remaining!
