Mob of 25 thrash a person in front of two Police personnel at a petrol pump in Buldhana

Effect of fuel shortage

Buldhana (Maharashtra) – A major dispute broke out around midnight over diesel refuelling at a petrol pump in Malkapur Pangra in Sindkhedraja taluka of Buldhana district. In the presence of two Police personnel deployed there for duty, around 25 people brutally assaulted one individual with kicks and punches. Due to the fuel shortage, a large crowd of vehicle owners gathered at the petrol pump. Two Police personnel had been deployed there to prevent any law-and-order situation from arising. However, an argument over standing in the queue later escalated into violence. Expressing their helplessness, the Police personnel stated, “There is such a large aggressive mob, and we are only two Police personnel. What can we do?” A similar clash also took place at a petrol pump in Washim between vehicle owners and farmers.

Editorial Perspective

  • This is merely the beginning of the adverse times. If such incidents begin occurring commonly in the future, it should not come as a surprise!
  • People should realise that the Police may not be able to protect them in such situations and should pray to God in order to face such times of crisis.
