  • First Meeting of Bengal's New Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s Cabinet: 5 Major Decisions

  • 'Ayushman Bharat Yojana' to be implemented

  • Government to take full responsibility for the families of 321 martyred BJP workers

  • 'Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita' to be enforced

Kolkata (Bengal) – The new Chief Minister of Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, held his first cabinet meeting on May 11, where five major decisions were taken. It was decided that the ‘Ayushman Bharat Yojana’ (providing free treatment up to 5 lakh rupees per year to poor and vulnerable families) will be implemented across the state. As per the rules, IPS (Indian Police Service) and IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officers will be permitted to participate in central training.

The ‘Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita’ will be enforced in the state. Land in border areas will be transferred to the Border Security Force (BSF) within 45 days to facilitate border fencing work. Furthermore, the government will take full responsibility for the families of the 321 BJP workers who lost their lives in the state. (BJP claims that over 300 workers were murdered in political violence during the Mamata Banerjee government). These five decisions were finalized during the meeting.

Providing further details about the meeting, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said that considering the constantly changing demographics in the border districts of Bengal, the cabinet has approved the process of handing over the necessary land to the BSF for border fencing. The Chief Secretary and the Secretary of the State’s Land and Land Reforms Department have been directed to complete this process within the next 45 days.

Editorial Perspective

  • The fact that the Mamata Banerjee government refused to provide land even for border fencing highlights the height of their anti-national and pro-Bangladeshi Muslim mindset! A case should be registered against her, and strict action must be taken!
  • Mamata Banerjee, who failed to implement the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, a scheme providing health facilities to the public, was truly anti-people. This is why the people of Bengal have sent her packing!
