Birbhum (Bengal) – A section of the Bhagwan Jagannath Temple in the district had allegedly been encroached upon by hooligan workers of the Trinamool Congress. Following the Assembly election results, BJP workers adopted an aggressive stand, freed the land from Trinamool Congress’s control and restored it to the Temple Committee.
BJP workers had earlier alleged that there were attempts to take control of the Temple land and enforce ‘Sharia law’ there. BJP supporters stated that forcibly occupying Temple land and running religious authoritarianism there would not be tolerated. Following this action, tense calm prevails in the area.
