1. The incident took place at the entrance of the Congress state office. 48-year-old Bindu Krishna reached the meeting venue wearing a white and yellow saree.
2. She was shaking hands with the media representatives and party workers present there.
3. During this, she approached 71-year-old Cherian Philip. When Bindu extended her hand for a handshake, Philip put his arm around her neck and tried to pull her into a hug.
4. Bindu immediately lowered his hand and pushed him back; however, Philip made a second attempt to do the same. Following this, Bindu folded her hands and walked away in a visibly distressed state.
5. As of now, neither leader has issued any official reaction to this matter; however, this incident has raised questions about internal discipline within the Congress.
Massive Criticism of Philip
Many journalists and activists were present when this incident occurred. After the video was widely circulated on social media, Cherian Philip faced immense criticism. Many have accused him of violating the personal boundaries of the female MLA.
