Press Information Bureau and Kolkata Police have clarified that there has been no incident of army entering Kolkata city or attacking the Chief Minister. This is all ill-propaganda spread as part of a deliberate conspiracy. “The police are taking strict legal action against those who spread such misleading information on social media. People should not believe in any such rumours,” it appealed.

What was claimed ?
A social media account named ‘Anushi Tiwari’ claimed that ‘a large number of Indian troops are entering Kolkata, people have blocked the road of the army. At this time CRPF soldiers have attacked Mamata Banerjee’s house and she has been injured. The Union government has ordered the closure of foreign embassies.’
