Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The administration of Gokarna Shri Mahabaleshwar Temple has secured victory in the Income Tax arrears cases related to the Temple. The Income Tax Department had issued notices regarding payment of ₹13 lakh in tax arrears for the financial year 2016-17 and ₹90 lakh for the year 2019-20. The verdict in both cases has gone in favour of the Temple administration. Through its order, the Commissioner of the Income Tax Department has confirmed that the tax arrears are zero.
Earlier too, the Temple administration had secured victory in the case related to ₹1 crore 42 lakh tax arrears for the financial year 2015-16. With this, all Income Tax cases against the Temple administration have now concluded.
The notice issued by the Department was meant to determine tax liability and did not indicate that any malpractice had taken place there. The Income Tax Department itself has now confirmed through its order that the Mahabaleshwar Temple has no tax arrears. In a press release, the media department of Shri Ramachandrapura Math stated that the acceptance of the explanation provided by the Temple’s present administrative board by the Income Tax Department is a victory of the ideal administrative system of Shri Ramachandrapura Math at that time.
