Govind Pansare’s book on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was written solely to distort history !

Mumbai, 3 May – “People of Leftist ideology admire Lenin and Mao. Since when did they suddenly develop affection for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ? Govind Pansare deliberately wrote the book ‘Shivaji Kon Hota ?’ to distort history,” alleged international preacher and speaker Dr Sachchidanand Shevde. He made this statement while speaking to ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ in the backdrop of the controversy surrounding Govind Pansare’s book ‘Shivaji Kon Hota ?’.

Dr Shevde said, “If we are to accept the claims made in Govind Pansare’s book as true, then should we declare the historical research of scholars like Gajanan Mehendale false ? Such researchers spent their entire lives studying and understanding Maharaj’s history. Every piece of writing by Gajanan Mehendale is supported by references. There are two kinds of historians: some present history, while others destroy it. Govind Pansare’s writings belong to the second category.”

Uses ‘Comrade’ before his own name, but refers to Maharaj informally !

“There is insistence among so-called progressives that Govind Pansare’s name should always be prefixed with ‘Comrade’; otherwise, it is considered disrespectful. However, the same people tolerate Govind Pansare referring to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in an informal singular manner. The statement made by Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham regarding Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was indeed wrong; however, he had made it based on a reference from a poem by Rabindranath Tagore. His mistake should have been pointed out, but instead he was abused.

On the other hand, Govind Pansare has portrayed Maharaj as ‘equal towards all religions’ in the book ‘Shivaji Kon Hota ?’. Copies of this book are being distributed. It has been learnt that a competition has also been organised based on this book, with a first prize of ₹1 lakh. Books worth ₹90,000 from this prize amount are to be distributed. This is merely a business to push book sales,” criticised Dr Sachchidanand Shevde.
