70 lakh kg ghee used without verification for Tirupati temple laddu prasad !

Report of the inquiry committee

Hyderabad (Telangana) – According to a one-member inquiry committee report in the case related to the procurement of ghee for laddu prasad of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, approximately 70 lakh kg of ghee was purchased without mandatory verification, and in several instances, it was used in the prasad even before laboratory test reports were received.

1.   The committee has alleged large-scale administrative lapses, violation of procedures, and possible collusion. It stated that these factors enabled the supply of adulterated ghee.

2.   The committee has held the temple’s former Executive Officer A. V. Dharma Reddy accountable. It has accused him of weakening tender norms, failing to take action even after adulteration was established, and allowing suspicious suppliers to continue operations.

3.   Dharma Reddy had earlier stated that all decisions were taken with the consent of all members of the procurement committee.

What is the issue ?

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has alleged that during the period from 2019 to 2024, under the then YSRCP (Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party) government, adulterated ghee was used in preparing laddu prasad. The YSRCP has claimed that these allegations are politically motivated.
