Case of alleged insult to Francis Xavier in Goa

Panaji, Goa – In a case of alleged insult to Francis Xavier during a public programme in Vasco, the Vasco Judicial Magistrate First Class Court granted bail to Gautam Khattar on 2 May. After hearing the arguments of both the defence and the police on 30 April, the Court had reserved its order on Khattar’s bail application until 10 a.m. on 2 May 2026.

While granting bail, the Court imposed key conditions, including furnishing a personal bond of ₹15,000 along with two sureties, not committing a similar offence, not travelling abroad without the Court’s permission, fully cooperating with the investigation, and remaining present as required for further inquiry. A large number of people from both sides gathered in the Court to hear the order. An intervention application had also been filed in this case; however, the Court granted bail to Gautam Khattar.
