“If BJP comes to power in Bengal, all Bangladeshis may be sent back, leading to a major refugee crisis” : Bangladesh MP Akhtar Hossain

Concern raised in Bangladesh Parliament by MP Akhtar Hossain !

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Akhtar Hossain, a Member of Parliament from the National Citizen Party (NCP), expressed concern in Parliament that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forms the government in West Bengal, it may deport Bangladeshis residing there, potentially triggering a large-scale refugee crisis.

Hossain stated that post-poll assessments indicate a possible BJP victory, which could result in the return of a large number of undocumented migrants to Bangladesh. He warned that such a development could create significant pressure on Bangladesh due to a sudden influx of returnees. “There is no guarantee that such deportations will not take place; therefore, we must remain united and prepared,” he said.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey criticizes Trinamool Congress

Nishikant Dubey, a BJP MP, reacted on social media, stating

that Akhtar Hossain’s remarks in the Bangladesh Parliament reflect concerns that a BJP victory in Bengal could curb illegal immigration and lead to deportations. He also alleged that supporters of the All India Trinamool Congress are gradually being exposed.

“Even Bangladeshis anticipate a BJP government”

BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain commented that even people in Bangladesh now believe that a BJP government could come to power in West Bengal and take stricter action against illegal immigration. He stated that under a BJP government, undocumented migrants would have to return to their country of origin.

Referring to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he added that while she treats such individuals as “guests,” a BJP-led administration would adopt a different approach. He emphasized that just as Indians love their country, Bangladeshi nationals should also respect and return to their own nation.
