Nagpur police inform about claim being baseless

Nagpur – Police have received threats that several places in the city are targeted with radioactive material, This includes the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. High alert is sounded in Nagpur city. An anonymous letter received by Police commissioner Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singhal makes this claim. This letter is sent by an organisation called “D.S.S”. The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been called in to investigate the matter.
According to police sources, it is alleged that a very dangerous radioactive powder named ‘Cesium-137’ has been placed at several important places. The accused have claimed to have obtained this radioactive substance from a cancer hospital. The letter challenging the administration further states that the entire Nagpur city is now under the threat of radiation.
Preliminary investigations conducted by the investigating agencies have so far not indicated any traces of radioactive material. Hence, it is being concluded that it could be a mischievous act.
The letter claims that the following areas of Nagpur have been targeted !
1. RSS headquarters in Mahal area
2. Dr. Hedgewar Memorial at Reshimbagh
3. BJP office at Ganesh Peth
4. Metro rail running on both ‘Orange’ and ‘Aqua’ routes
5. Buses running on routes near RSS and BJP offices.
