Jerusalem — Palestinian leaders have made an unusual allegation that Israel has trained rats and mice to attack residents in the Gaza Strip. They added that rodent infestations have recently increased significantly across Gaza.
Jamal Obeid, a member of the senior leadership council of Fatah in Gaza, said on April 18 during an appearance on Awda TV that a large number of rats and mice have recently been observed across the Gaza Strip. He stated that such animals had not previously been seen in the area and alleged that Israel had deliberately released them there. In an interview aired on April 15 on Awda TV, Rafat Al-Qudra, director of the Palestine Broadcasting Corporation in Gaza, said that unusually large rodents have reportedly been attacking residents, particularly children, and claimed that they appeared to have been trained by Israel.
Israel has not issued any response to these allegations.
