Israel destroys two 2-km-long Hezbollah tunnels

Tel Aviv (Israel) – Israel has destroyed two Hezbollah tunnels in Lebanon, each approximately 2 kilometers long. These tunnels were built by Hezbollah, a political group in Lebanon with a militant ideology, with support from Iran. They were located in the city of Qantara, just 10 kilometers from the Israeli border. It reportedly took nearly 10 years to construct them. On April 28, Israel completely destroyed the tunnels using 450 tons of explosives.

The Israeli military stated that these were the longest tunnels discovered so far. They extended up to a depth of 25 meters.

Primary purpose of the destroyed Hezbollah tunnels

The Israeli military said that the main objective behind constructing these tunnels was to hide large numbers of militants from Hezbollah’s special unit, known as the “Radwan Forces,” and to supply them with weapons, communication systems, and other essential logistics. This would have enabled them to carry out attacks on various Israeli cities.
