Stock of illegally imported cosmetics from Pakistan seized in Nagpur !

Pakistani beauty products

Nagpur, Maharashtra – The chain of illegal activities occurring across the border has now reached markets directly in India. In Nagpur, the Food and Drug Administration raided a commercial establishment and seized a stock of cosmetics illegally imported from Pakistan. These products, labelled ‘Made in Pakistan’, are suspected to have been brought to Nagpur via Mumbai.

A raid was conducted at ‘M/s Saibaba Traders’ located in Kasarpura Galli in the Itwari area. The seized stock included Pakistani-made products such as ‘Goree Beauty Cream’, ‘Face Fresh Gold Plus’, ‘Golden Star Beauty Cream’, ‘Goree Whitening Body Lotion’, and ‘Goree Whitening Soap’. The estimated value of the seized goods is ₹15,186. None of these products carried mandatory details such as import registration number, manufacturing licence, ingredient list, manufacturing date, or expiry date.

No valid purchase bills for these products were found with the seller. Officials have expressed the possibility that these cosmetics may contain harmful substances such as mercury and steroids, which are dangerous to human health. Samples of these products have been sent to the Government laboratory in Mumbai for verification. Authorities suspect the involvement of a larger inter-state or international network behind this case. The process of registering an offence at Tehsil Police Station is underway, and a detailed investigation into the supply chain is being conducted.

Editorial Perspective

The entry of such illegal goods into India from an enemy nation like Pakistan is a matter of concern from a security perspective. Through these products, people’s health is being put at risk. Adopting indigenous products and boycotting such suspicious foreign goods is necessary in the national interest.
