Assam: Inhuman torture in a de-addiction centre to force Hindus to convert to Islam !

Dhubri (Assam) – There is an illegal rehab centre in Gauripur, Dhubri district of Assam. It has been reported that Hindus are tortured at this centre to adopt Islam. The Police raided this place at late night on 24.04.2026 and arrested six persons while freeing nine Hindus. The prime accused Zahirul Sheikh is, however, absconding.

As per the information received, five Hindu victims had tried to run away by jumping from the terrace of the building as they were fed up of the torture. Police raided the place on the same night and arrested the guilty. The terrible happenings at the centre came to light during their interrogations.

Method of torture

1. Hindus were lured of good treatment to get admitted to the centre and then, forced to adopt Islam.

2. The victims were forced to eat beef and on refusal, they were brutally beaten up with iron rods.

3. The aggrieved Hindus had filed complaints about their physical and mental torture.

4. They were asked to clean toilets and wash clothes of the staff and the owner of the centre.

5. ₹12,000 per month was being taken from the Union Government; however, only around ₹2,000 was spent on their upkeep. The police are conducting further investigation in this matter
