Legal victory for Bangladesh Minority Watch fighting for minority Hindu rights

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – A Joint District Judge in Dhaka has recently acquitted Hindu victims from Dhamrai sub-district in a false case. This marks a success for the legal efforts of Bangladesh Minority Watch, an organisation working for the rights of minority Hindus in Bangladesh. The information was shared by its founder, Adv. (HH) Rabindra Ghosh. The names of the three victims are Jiban Pal, Kartik Haldar, and Rupa Haldar.
1. The acquitted Hindu victims had originally filed a Police complaint in a separate matter. Instead of delivering justice, the crime branch of Dhaka Police registered cases against the complainants themselves in an old human rights violation case, effectively turning them into accused.
2. Bangladesh Minority Watch conducted an on-site investigation, which revealed that the Police were responsible for the harassment of Jiban Pal, Kartik Haldar, and Rupa Haldar.
3. On 21 April 2026, advocate HH Rabindra Ghosh presented the victims’ case before the Joint District Judge in Dhaka. He informed the court that the Police had coerced and threatened the complainants, forcibly recording their statements.
4. After a prolonged hearing, the court acquitted the Hindu victims of all charges.
