Mumbai High Court

Nashik, Maharashtra – The Bombay High Court has quashed the charges against four Hindu accused in the 2006 Malegaon bomb blast case due to lack of evidence. The accused are Rajendra Chaudhary, Dhan Singh, Lokesh Sharma, and Manohar Narvariya. Earlier, the Sessions Court had framed charges against them under offences such as murder and criminal conspiracy. The accused had challenged this order before the High Court. During the hearing, the Court observed that the evidence presented was insufficient and consequently set aside the Sessions Court’s order.

The defence argued that the National Investigation Agency had not produced even a single eyewitness, which weakened the very foundation of the case. It was also submitted that other accused in the case had already been discharged earlier, and therefore, the case could not be sustained. Taking these aspects into consideration, the High Court granted relief to the accused.

Following the decision, the accused expressed gratitude to the Court and stated that although delayed, justice had finally been delivered to them.
