Bombay High Court rejects the demand to recover the security expenses of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from the Sarsanghchalak !

Court declares petition 'submerit' !

Sarsanghchalak Param Pujya Dr Mohanji Bhagwat

Nagpur, Maharashtra – Social activist Lalan Kishore Singh had filed a petition in the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court seeking recovery of the cost of the Z-plus-VVIP  (extremely high level security) provided to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from the RSS chief (Sarsanghchalak) Param Pujya Mohanji Bhagwat. But the petition was dismissed by the court as frivolous. Chief Justice Chandrashekhar and Justice Anil Kilor gave this decision. It was said while passing the judgment that ‘there is not enough information to issue necessary orders regarding this demand’. It was said that the cost of one month of this security is about Rs 40 to 45 lakh.

The petition cited a judgment of the Supreme Court dated February 27, 2023. In this judgment, it was said that even if the security is provided in certain circumstances,  the entire cost of the security has to be borne by the concerned person or institution. In such a situation, the petitioner said that the central government and the concerned departments are providing the highest level of security to the unregistered entity from taxpayers’ money.

Other demands in the petition

1. Wastage of taxpayers’ money should be curbed and it should deposited in the government exchequer.

2. The correspondence received by the Union Government and the Ministry of Home Affairs in this regard should be acted upon expeditiously.
