MDMA drugs worth ₹5 crore seized in Mumbai !

Main accused arrested !

Mumbai – The Anti-Narcotics Squad has seized a large quantity of MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine) tablets. A 36-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the case, and she is reported to be the main distributor of these drugs. A case has been registered against her.

During a raid at the accused’s residence, a total of 4,056 tablets were recovered. Their estimated value in the international market exceeds ₹5 crore. Earlier as well, 104 grams of these tablets, worth ₹26 lakh, had been seized from the same accused. (Why was strict action not taken against the accused at that time ? – Editor)

Harmful effects of MDMA

This drug is available in the form of tablets or powder. Its consumption creates a temporary feeling of increased energy and excitement, while also raising heart rate. In some cases, it can lead to organ failure. It may cause depression and can even result in death. One tablet is typically sold for ₹1,000 to ₹3,000, while one gram of powder can cost between ₹5,000 and ₹15,000 or more. Prices may be higher in metropolitan cities.
