Display of Aurangzeb’s posters during Ambedkar Jayanti procession in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar sparks outrage !

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar – During a procession taken out on the occasion of Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, an incident has come to light in which a youth displayed posters of Aurangzeb and danced with them, triggering widespread anger. The video of this act was circulated on social media, leading to strong reactions across the city.

Demand to register a case by Deputy Mayor Rajendra Janjal

Taking an aggressive stand on the matter, Deputy Mayor Rajendra Janjal stated that Aurangzeb is not a great personality but an invader. Displaying the image of such a figure and circulating its video on an occasion as sacred as the birth anniversary of a great personality is highly condemnable. He added that he would meet Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar to demand immediate registration of a case against the concerned individual.

Support from former MP Imtiaz Jaleel

Reacting to the issue, former MP Imtiaz Jaleel of the AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) party appeared to defend the act and presented a controversial argument. Jaleel stated that the Constitution grants freedom of expression to every individual; therefore, if a youth carried a picture, what offence does it constitute ? He also asked under which legal provisions a case could be registered. (How can leaders like Jaleel justify the glorification of a cruel invader under the guise of freedom of expression ? Strict action must be taken against those displaying Aurangzeb’s images so that no one dares to repeat such acts in the future ! – Editor) Following his statement, devout Hindus have expressed that such remarks encourage those who glorify Aurangzeb.

Editorial Perspective

  • Glorifying Aurangzeb, who destroyed Hindu temples, is not freedom of expression but a deliberate attempt to disturb social harmony. Will the police show the courage to imprison such individuals ?
  • Just as Muslims would not accept a depiction of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj killing Afzal Khan, Hindus too will not tolerate the display of images of Aurangzeb, who destroyed Hindu temples - this must be asserted firmly !
  • Please note that while the police administration insists on permission for displaying images of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj killing Afzal Khan, it does not require permission for displaying images of Aurangzeb !
