Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand receives death threat from unknown person

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) – Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati of Jyotish Peeth has received a death threat from an unidentified individual. In an audio message sent to him, it was stated, “Just as gangster Atiq Ahmed was killed, you too will be killed.” The audio also contains 33 instances of abusive language.

The Shankaracharya is currently leading the ‘Gomata–Rashtramata’ campaign. As part of this initiative, a yatra is scheduled to begin in Uttar Pradesh from 3 May. Through this yatra, he aims to raise awareness among people about cow protection and the establishment of shelters (gaudham) for cows. A threat to attack him during this yatra has also been issued.

This is not the first time that the Shankaracharya has received such threats. His supporters state that certain individuals are displeased with his cow protection campaign, and this could be the reason why he is being targeted.
