Kolkata – A leader from the All India Trinamool Congress, Hafizul Mulla, has been arrested after allegedly threatening voters. He said, “If you don’t vote for us or betray us, a road-roller will be run over you after the vote counting. I am saying this openly. On 4 May, after the results, I will run a road-roller over those who do not vote for us.” The video of him openly threatening opposition supporters in the Jibantala area of South 24 Parganas went viral, leading to his arrest by the Police.

The Bharatiya Janata Party criticised the Trinamool Congress after sharing the video, stating that the party now has nothing left except intimidation and threats. The BJP added that the people of West Bengal will no longer tolerate politics of corruption and appeasement.

Election officials clarified that such threatening language will not be tolerated during the election period. The matter is currently under investigation, and further action is being taken.

Editorial Perspectives

  • The TMC party, whose leader openly threatens to kill voters, should be banned.
  • Over 150 BJP workers have been killed during the past 15 years of Trinamool Congress rule in Bengal, and the party is being held responsible. Statements like Mulla’s appear to reinforce these allegations.
