Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s opinion

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Bangladesh’s new Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has said that the 1971 operation of Pakistani forces in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) was one of the most heinous genocides in history. Bangladesh celebrates March 26 as ‘Liberation Day’, on which East Pakistan became independent to become Bangladesh in 1971. Remembering the massacre on the occasion of ‘Liberation Day’, Tariq Rehman has sent a strong message to the rulers of Pakistan.
March 25, 1971 is observed as Genocide Day. On the occasion of Genocide Day, 1 pay my deepest respect to all the martyrs.
In the history of freedom-loving Bangladesh, 25 March 1971 remains one of the most disgraceful and brutal days. On that dark night, the Pakistani occupation… pic.twitter.com/SiLUrbVSgP

1. After Sheikh Hasina’s expulsion from Bangladesh, the head of the interim government there, Mohammad Yunus, had started strengthening relations with Pakistan with opposing India. The Yunus government had sent its senior army officers to Islamabad, setting aside the issue of the massacre by the Pakistani army.
2. On the occasion of ‘Liberation Day’, Tariq Rehman in a message broadcast on ‘X’ recalled the brutal killings of unarmed Bangladeshi civilians by the Pakistan Army in ‘Operation Searchlight’.
3. It is clear from his statement that he is not ready to forget this action of the Pakistani army. This formula has been a major cause of long-standing tension in relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh. For decades, Bangladesh has been demanding an apology from Pakistan; but the Pakistan Army is not ready for it.
