New Delhi – According to a report by Israeli media outlet KAN, U.S. President Donald Trump may announce a ceasefire with Iran on March 28th. However, this possibility is emerging as a major concern for Israel.
In light of the potential ceasefire, a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was held, during which strategies were discussed to achieve the war’s final objectives at the earliest. Reports indicate that Netanyahu has instructed the Israeli military to inflict significant damage on Iran’s weapons stockpiles and military infrastructure before any ceasefire comes into effect.
Israel believes the current situation presents an opportunity to further strengthen its military position, leading to an intensification of ongoing attacks. Meanwhile, coordination between the United States and Israel is said to remain strong. The Commander of the U.S. Central Command is expected to visit Israel soon for discussions on future strategy.
Trump’s desire for an early end to the war
While speculation grows about a possible ceasefire announcement on March 28th, The Wall Street Journal has reported that Trump has recently conveyed to his associates that he wishes to avoid a prolonged conflict in Iran. He has expressed hope that the conflict could conclude within the coming weeks.
Reports also suggest that the U.S. President intends to resolve the conflict before his upcoming visit to China.
Iran’s position
Amid these developments, Iran has maintained a firm stance. Iranian media reports indicate that Tehran has rejected a 15-point ceasefire proposal presented by the United States and reportedly conveyed through Pakistan.
Iran has clarified that any decision to end the war will be taken strictly on its own terms, making the prospects of an immediate agreement appear unlikely at present.
India resumes LPG imports from Iran after several years
Following the United States’ temporary suspension of sanctions on Iran for 30 days, India has reportedly resumed purchasing Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from Iran for the first time in several years.
India had halted energy imports; including crude oil and gas; from Iran in 2019 due to Western sanctions. The sanctioned LPG carrier Aurora is expected to arrive at the Mangaluru port carrying Iranian LPG.
The purchase has reportedly been facilitated through a trader, with payment to be made in Indian rupees.
