‘IDFC First Bank’ issues apology after Shiv Sena’s protest

  • The bank officials tried to exploit a borrower

  • The borrower was abused and given death threats

Nagpur – An ‘IDFC First Bank’ customer had borrowed a loan for his business; however, he could not repay the loan instalments due to a loss in the business. The bank asked the customer to make a ‘one-time settlement’. The customer paid the amount specified by the bank, but he was not given a loan clearance certificate. The bank officials repeatedly contacted him and asked him to pay an additional Rs 1 lakh. The borrower alleged that he was abused using extremely foul language at this time.

The borrower’s wedding potentially threatened

The bank employees did not abuse the borrower alone, but they also abused his wife-to-be and her family. Due to this, the wedding was about to get cancelled. After this, the borrower sought help from the Shiv Sena. Under the leadership of Shiv Sena’s Deputy City Head Rahul Pandey, the workers protested at the bank. Shiv Sainiks went to the bank office and threw 15 to 20 kg of rotten tomatoes and warned of a bigger protest if the apology letter and loan repayment certificate were not issued. The bank issued the certificate, as well as the apology letter. Rahul Pandey informed ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ in this regard. (Congratulations to Rahul Pandey and all Shiv Sainiks! Such Shiv Sainiks are the real strength of the common people – Editor).

Editorial Perspectives

  • In addition to issuing an apology, the bank’s management should also dismiss the employees responsible for the customer’s financial exploitation.
  • The public must raise its voice against such banks that call themselves ‘corporate’ and pretend to uphold all human values.
