Case of placing advertisements of Aghori Baba in the railways

Jalgaon – Despite the implementation of the Superstition Eradication Act in the state, hundreds of advertisements of an Aghori Baba under the name ‘Guru Arshad Ji’ have been displayed in trains. These advertisements make claims of vashikaran (bringing someone under one’s influence), love marriage, breaking marriages, black magic, and more. Contact numbers have also been provided, through which criminal activities and superstition are being openly encouraged.
A vigilant citizen had lodged a complaint with the railway department in November 2025; however, it took four months for the railway administration to respond. In March 2026, they merely issued a letter stating that “appropriate note will be taken.”
As per the Superstition Eradication Act, publishing or circulating such advertisements is a cognisable offence. Despite this, no concrete mechanism has been implemented to curb such activities within railway premises. (When will strict legal action be taken ? Even those who label Hindu religious sentiments as ‘superstition’ do not step forward to act against such fraudsters. – Editor)
Editorial PerspectiveEven after four months of the complaint, the railway administration has given only a namesake reply ! If the railway administration is giving such superficial responses even after four months, how seriously must it be treating complaints of common citizens ? |
