Amritsar (Punjab) – The rural police here busted an ISI-sponsored arms smuggling network on 14 March. Two terrorists involved in smuggling weapons from across the border were arrested during the operation. The police recovered one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 36 live cartridges, and three sophisticated pistols from their possession.

The arrested accused have been identified as Gursevak Singh alias Suraj, a resident of Attari, and Amarjeet Singh alias Rohit, from Chheharta. A court has remanded both terrorists to five days of police custody for further interrogation.

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the arrested terrorists were in contact with foreign-based handlers through social media. Preliminary investigations have revealed that they were also attempting to radicalise youths and spread anti-India and anti-police propaganda.

Plot to assassinate a member of police personnel uncovered

According to Sohail Mir, Senior Superintendent of Police (Amritsar Rural), the operation was carried out during a raid in Muhawa village after intelligence inputs about a conspiracy to assassinate a police personnel member.

Weapons had been dropped inside Indian territory near Muhawa village through a Pakistani drone in a blue suitcase. The terrorists intended to transport the consignment to Gurdaspur and use it to carry out the planned killing.

Earlier, in February 2026, it had come to light that three youths recruited by the ISI had murdered two police officers  in Adhian village, located barely 1 kilometre from the Pakistan border.

Editorial Perspective

Several incidents have now exposed that the financial and arms support being provided to Khalistani terrorists in Punjab is channelled through the ISI. To effectively curb Khalistani separatism in the State, it is essential first to tighten the noose around Pakistan.
