6 Members of a gang spying for Pakistan arrested from Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh)

Ghaziabad (UP) – The Ghaziabad police on Saturday (14th March) arrested six persons for spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI. The police first nabbed Suhail Malik, Praveen, Raj, Shiva and Hrithik. Based on the information revealed by them, the police nabbed the sixth accused, Iram alias Mahak. They were produced before a court on Saturday evening, from where they were sent to judicial custody.

According to police, the accused had been leaking photos, videos and locations of sensitive places in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Karnataka to Pakistan. They sent photographs, videos, and location data of Delhi’s Army Cantonment area, all railway stations, the GRP, the RPF, as well as Mumbai’s railway stations, defence zones, and other key sensitive locations to Pakistan.

About six months ago, Suhail reportedly installed a solar-powered camera at Delhi Cantt Railway Station that transmitted a live feed directly to a contact number in Pakistan. The accused had been receiving payments ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 rupees for sending all the information to Pakistan. The police are investigating the contact numbers found on 8 mobile phones seized in their possession.

Suhail Malik recruited the other accused

Two of the accused, Suhail and Raj Valimiki, were friends and knew each other from Delhi. They had worked together at hotels and dhabas about a year ago. Later on, they quit their jobs, and Suhail moved to Meerut. When Raj needed money, Suhail involved him in his activities of spying for Pakistan. Subsequently, Praveen, Shiva Valmiki, Ritik Gangwar, and Iram also joined him.

Initially, the accused used to send photos and videos to Suhail, who used to forward them to his connection in Pakistan. Later on, all the accused were directly connected to their handlers in Pakistan and were added to a WhatsApp group. The police also said that the accused had been receiving some parcels from Pakistan. Police are investigating how Suhail came into contact with Pakistan.
