Navy Personnel Adarsh Kumar Arrested for Allegedly Spying for Pakistan

Adarsh Kumar alias Lucky

Agra (Uttar Pradesh) — Adarsh Kumar alias Lucky, a Lance Naik serving in the Indian Navy, has been arrested on charges of allegedly spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He was arrested from Chitpur village in the Kagarol area of Agra. He was currently posted at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi (Kerala). Notably, he had married just 22 days ago.

1. After his marriage, Adarsh Kumar had taken his wife to Dubai for a trip. Upon returning to his village, he was arrested by the police. He had joined the Navy around seven years ago.

2. Adarsh Kumar allegedly sent photographs and details of Indian warships to an ISI handler. This was confirmed through documents recovered from him.

3. Security agencies had reportedly received information that Adarsh Kumar had been spying for Pakistan for several days. His movements were thereafter kept under surveillance.

4. After his arrest, Adarsh Kumar was produced before a court and sent to judicial custody. Police are now investigating how many others might be involved in the espionage network.

5. About a year ago, another individual from Agra, Ravindra Kumar, was arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan. He had come into contact with a woman named Neha Sharma through Facebook. Security agencies suspect that, like Ravindra Kumar, Adarsh Kumar may also have fallen victim to a ‘honey trap’, where a person is lured into a trap through a woman.
