Bhubaneswar (Odisha) – A new case of ‘Love Jihad’ has come to light in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. A Muslim youth named Irfan Ansari allegedly trapped a Hindu young woman in a love trap by introducing himself as ‘Jayaram Sharma’. Irfan Ansari, a resident of Karnataka, was arrested by the Shahidnagar Police while attempting to forcibly take the victim young woman to Karnataka.

According to detailed reports, Irfan and the victim Hindu young woman met while working at a hotel in Karnataka. The accused introduced himself as ‘Jayaram Sharma’ and befriended her. Through social media, this friendship gradually turned into a romantic relationship. For nearly a year, the accused deceived the woman by using his false identity.

A disturbing case of deception has come to light in Bhubaneswar.

A man identified as Irfan Ansari posed as ‘Jayram Sharma’ to trap a Hindu girl in a relationship.

Later, the victim young woman returned to Odisha and began working in Puri. Irfan frequently visited her there. One day, the victim young woman found two different Aadhaar cards belonging to the accused. One Aadhaar card bore the name ‘Jayaram Sharma’, while the other had the name ‘Irfan Ansari’. After the truth came to light, the victim young woman attempted to distance herself from him.

Realising that his secret had been exposed, the accused became furious. He allegedly confined the young woman in a room and subjected her to inhuman harassment. Irfan was also allegedly planning to threaten the woman and forcibly take her to Karnataka.

Acting on specific intelligence, the Shahidnagar Police arrested the accused and safely rescued the young woman. The Police have seized weapons and several fake identity cards from the accused. The Police are also investigating the possibility of the accused being linked to a larger gang.

The Police are being praised for rescuing the woman from physical harassment on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
