Shivalinga vandalised and calf slaughtered near temple in Alwar (Rajasthan)

Alwar (Rajasthan) – Unknown persons vandalised an ancient temple located near a crematorium here. A Shivalinga in the temple was broken and several other Idols were also damaged. A calf was slaughtered and thrown near the temple, creating tension in the area. Local citizens gathered at the site to express their protest and demanded strict action against the culprits. The police reached the spot, assured action and pacified the citizens.

A few days ago, the neck of the Nandi Idol was found broken. Subsequently, the trunk of the Idol of Shri Ganesh was also found damaged. At that time, it was suspected that monkeys might have caused the damage. However, the Shivalinga has now been completely smashed with the help of a stone. A broken stone was also found near the Shivalinga, raising strong suspicion that the act was deliberate.

Editorial perspective

Since Hindus would never commit such an act, there is no doubt that those who oppose Idol worship and call Hindus ‘kafirs’ could be behind this. There is now a need for a permanent solution to such elements.
