Case registered against two youths for molesting Portuguese woman in Mumbai

Mumbai – Two youths allegedly molested Ainus Faria, a Portuguese woman visiting the city. The Mumbai Police have registered a case of outraging modesty against both accused and have launched a search to trace them.

The victim is a social media content creator who was touring India. The accused reportedly tried to force her to pose for photographs. Despite her repeated refusals, they continued to follow and harass her.

Expressing her anguish, Ainus Faria said that she has been travelling across India for the past two months and had a positive experience overall, but did not expect such an incident to occur.

Editorial Perspectives

Incidents of harassment of foreign women have occurred in Mumbai on several occasions in the past as well. Accused who tarnish Mumbai’s image at the international level must face the strictest possible punishment. Unless exemplary and stringent action is taken against such offenders, such incidents are unlikely to stop.
