Chennai (Tamil Nadu) – Delhi Police have arrested 8 terrorists from Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. The arrested individuals are reportedly linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, and a Bangladesh-based terrorist organisation. Following instructions from foreign handlers, this group was allegedly planning a large-scale terrorist attack in India.

1. Police arrested six terrorists—Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Liton, Mohammad Shahid, and Mohammad Ujjal—from garment units in Tiruppur district, Tamil Nadu, while two others were arrested from West Bengal. Some of the arrested are Bangladeshi nationals using fake Aadhaar cards to conceal their identities.

2. Police officials stated that the handler coordinating this module is a resident of Kashmir who is currently operating from Bangladesh. He is believed to have received terrorist training in Pakistan, and the 8 suspects were acting under his instructions.

3. Police seized eight mobile phones and 16 SIM cards from the accused. The terrorists had conducted reconnaissance of several cities and were also involved in posting “Free Kashmir” banners in Delhi.

4. Just a day earlier, central security agencies had warned of a possible terrorist attack on the Red Fort area and Hindu temples. The arrests followed this alert.
