Terror plot to attack Red Fort and temple in Chandni Chowk

Attempt to avenge mosque blast in Pakistan’s capital

New Delhi – An alert has been issued in the national capital following intelligence inputs that the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba has allegedly hatched a conspiracy to carry out terrorist attacks near the Red Fort and at a temple in Chandni Chowk. Security has been heightened across the area.

According to sources, the planned attack is suspected to be an attempt to avenge a recent explosion at a mosque in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. Intelligence agencies believe the plot involves triggering blasts in Delhi in retaliation.

It may be recalled that on 10 November last year, a car bomb exploded near the Red Fort Metro station, killing more than 10 people and injuring several others.
