₹1 lakh crore turnover across the country after the consecration ceremony of Shriram Temple

Report – The Economic Renaissance of Ayodhya, India : A Case Study on Shriram Mandir

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) – After the consecration (Pran Pratishtha) of Shriram temple, a historic rise has been witnessed in Ayodhya’s economy. The prestigious university, the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow), has released a research report. Titled “The Economic Renaissance of Ayodhya, India : A Case Study on Shriram Mandir,” the report states that due to Shriram Mandir, tourism-based annual turnover is expected to reach ₹100 lakh crore (10 trillion). Additionally, economic activity across the country is likely to reach ₹1 lakh crore. Before the temple’s construction, Ayodhya was primarily known as a sacred pilgrimage site; however, after the consecration ceremony, unprecedented growth in economic activities has been observed.

Key statistical findings from the report are as follows:

  • Significant growth in tourism, investment, employment and revenue.
  • An estimated 1.2 lakh direct and indirect jobs likely to be created in tourism, transport and hospitality sectors over the next 4–5 years.
  • More than 2,00,000 devotees visit daily for darshan; annually, 5–6 crore (50–60 million) devotees undertake a pilgrimage to Ayodhya.
  • A substantial increase in demand for local handicrafts, religious souvenirs, and idols, directly benefiting artisans and local producers.
  • Approximately 6,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises are expected to be launched.
  • A fivefold increase in the daily income of shopkeepers and street vendors.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Those who hate Hindu temples and spirituality, and who preach that efforts should be directed only toward economic prosperity, should now be questioned by Hindus in light of this report.
  • While the construction of Shri Ram Mandir is resulting in historic economic growth, is the administration paying attention to preserving and promoting Ayodhya’s sanctity, spiritual atmosphere, and religious character ? Devout Hindus expect that Yogi Adityanath, being a Saint himself, should also focus on this aspect.
