Ottawa (Canada) — As of October last year, Canada had deported 2,781 Indian nationals. In total, 18,785 individuals were removed from Canada during the year, with Indians ranking second among those deported. The highest number — 3,972 — were Mexican nationals. These figures have been released by the Canada Border Services Agency.

At present, deportation proceedings are underway against 29,542 individuals, including 6,515 Indians. The Canadian government stated that many of those deported were facing criminal charges; however, a substantial number were also individuals who had failed to comply with regulations governing refugee claims.

The United States, Canada and Gulf nations do not hesitate to expel infiltrators and foreign criminals from their soil. Why then does India lack the will to act with similar firmness ?
