Teacher Zakir Basha Sheikh accused of sexually exploiting 30 minor girls !

Sheikh arrested !

Annamayya (Andhra Pradesh) – Zakir Basha Sheikh, a teacher at the Zilla Parishad secondary school in Tarigonda village of the district, has been accused of sexually exploiting around 30 minor girls. A formal complaint has been registered against him at the Gurramkonda police station. After the incident came to light, local residents and parents of the victimized girls staged strong protests outside the school. Following a preliminary inquiry, the Education Department immediately suspended Zakir Basha Sheikh. (Merely suspending such depraved teachers is not enough; they must be dismissed from service and sent to prison; only then can future generations be protected ! – Editor)

The accused teacher has been arrested and remanded to police custody.

To help the affected girls recover from the psychological trauma, the district administration has arranged special counselling support. The Andhra Pradesh government has assured that the case will be fast-tracked and that the accused will be given the strictest punishment. Intervention by the National Human Rights Commission has further expedited the investigation.

Editorial Perspective

The government must ensure that such accused are tried in fast-track courts and punished with the harshest sentence, including capital punishment, to deter such crimes !
