9,500 Kilograms of Explosives Seized in Rajasthan

Nagaur (Rajasthan) — Police have seized a huge cache of explosives from a farm in Harsaur village here. As many as 9,550 kilograms of ammonium nitrate were found stored in 187 sacks. A large quantity of detonators and fuse wires was also recovered. Suleman Khan (50) was arrested from the spot. He already has three criminal cases registered against him.

Ammonium nitrate was used in the bomb blast that occurred near the Red Fort in Delhi on November 10, 2025. A day prior to that incident, approximately 3,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate had been seized from Dhauj village in Haryana.

The Superintendent of Police stated that Suleman was supplying explosives to both legal and illegal mining operators. However, information regarding the seizure has also been shared with central agencies, which are expected to interrogate Suleman as well.

Important Information About Ammonium Nitrate

Ammonium nitrate is not an explosive by itself. However, when mixed with diesel or any other fuel, it can be converted into a highly dangerous bomb. It is an odourless, white, granular chemical. It is primarily used in the manufacture of fertilisers, and nitrate-based fertilisers are among the most commonly used worldwide.
