The European Union approves the defense agreement with India

New Delhi – European Union’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, told the European Parliament that a new defence agreement (security and defence agreement) with India has been approved. It will be signed next week at the India-EU summit in New Delhi. This partnership will be part of a larger strategic agenda, which includes a free trade agreement, defence and security agreement, cybersecurity, maritime security, and counter-terrorism measures.

European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen are coming to India. They will be the chief guests at the Republic Day celebrations on January 26th. The summit will be held the following day, January 27th. The European Union delegation visiting India will comprise approximately 90 members.
