CBI Nabs Lt Col Deepak Kumar Sharma in a bribe case

Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma

New Delhi – Lt Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma working as a deputy planning officer associated with international cooperation and export under the Defence Ministry has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI)  for taking bribes. He has been accused of accepting bribe of Rs 3 lakhs from a company in Bengaluru. During the searches at his house, cash of Rs 2.23 crores was found. His wife Col Kajal Bali is a co-accused in this case. Colonel Bali is presently posted as a commanding officer in 16 Infantry Division Ordnance Unit at Shri Ganganagar. Rs 10 lakhs have been seized from her house in Shri Ganganagar.

As informed by the CBI spokesperson, Lt Colonel Sharma was involved in criminal conspiracy conniving with different private companies associated with the production of defence material and export.

Sharma had taken the money for favouring these companies. Two civilians viz. Rajiv Yadav and Ranjit Singh were regularly in contact with Lt Col Sharma. They used illegal methods to favour their companies. On 18.12.2025, a person named Vinod Kumar offered bribe of Rs three lakhs to Deepak Kumar Sharma at the behest of his company.
