Pakistan’s remark on the Incident of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar allegedly removing a woman’s hijab

“Hatred against the Muslim community is increasing in India!”

Islamabad (Pakistan) – Calling the alleged act of forcibly removing a Muslim woman’s hijab “highly objectionable,”

Pakistan has claimed that hatred against the Muslim community is increasing in India. Pakistan alleged; the humiliation of Muslim women in India might become a normal occurrence due to such incidents and further encourage intolerance towards Muslims.

These remarks were made by Tahir Hussain Andrabi, spokesperson of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a press briefing.

Pakistan’s reaction follows an incident in Bihar where, during the distribution of appointment letters to AYUSH doctors, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reportedly questioned a woman doctor, Nusrat, about her hijab and subsequently removed it himself.

Earlier, a notorious Pakistani criminal named Bhatti had also issued threats against Nitish Kumar over this issue. In the wake of it, security arrangements for the Bihar Chief Minister have been tightened.

Editorial Perspective

  • While Hindus have faced systematic persecution and genocide in Pakistan for the past 78 years, Pakistan remains silent on this issue. In 1947, Hindus comprised nearly 14 per cent of Pakistan’s population; today, their number has dwindled to barely 1 per cent. When will Pakistan speak about this reality? And when will India demand answers from Pakistan on this grave issue?
  • India should now impose a ban on wearing hijab, naqab and burqa in public places, as is done in several Western countries.
