Siddiqui arrested before fleeing abroad

Ahmed Siddiqui, President of Al-Falah

New Delhi – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Ahmed Siddiqui, the chairman of Al-Falah University in Haryana’s Faridabad, and sent him to 13 days’ custody in connection with the Delhi blast case. The ED told the Court that Siddiqui misled students and their parents through Al-Falah University by claiming to be a recognized institution and amassed illegal income worth Rs 415 crore 10 lakhs. If he had not been arrested, he could have fled abroad and destroyed evidence to evade investigation.

The ED told the Court that after 1990, the Al-Falah Group grew rapidly and became a prominent educational institution. However, there is a significant discrepancy between the financial position of the group and its assets, which raises suspicions.

200 people from Al-Falah under scanner

According to intelligence sources, 10 people working or studying at Al Falah University are missing. They cannot be contacted. 3 of them are Kashmiris. Their mobile phones are switched off. A joint team of Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana Police is working to trace them. Apart from this, a total of 200 people from this university are being monitored by the investigative agencies.

Editorial Perspective

This asset should be confiscated, and the university should be demolished. Also, all such Islamic universities in the country should be investigated on a war footing.
