Sukhanand Shetty murder case : Absconding accused Abdul Salam arrested after 19 years

Mangaluru (Karnataka) – The Police have arrested Abdul Salam Addur, an accused in the murder case of BJP leader and staunch Hindutva activist Sukhanand Shetty, who was absconding for 19 years. 16 accused have been arrested in this case so far, while 11 accused are still absconding.

On December 1st, 2006, Kabir and his accomplice murdered Sukhanand Shetty near Hosbettu. The accused were given shelter by Kabir’s brothers Latif alias Addur Latif and Abdul Salam Addur for 2 days at their house in Addur Tibet Colony. Abdul Salam Addur had fled the country 3 months after the murder. The Police had received information that he had recently returned to the area. Based on this information, the Police arrested him. His brother Latif is still living abroad.

Presently, India needs a Police force that would arrest and punish religious fanatics who shed the blood of devout Hindus, no matter where those fanatics are hiding around the world.
